Really lovin' this topic so far. I love really thinking about the people who are important to me and the ways I stay connected to them. I'll admit that sometimes the daily-ness of it all makes it difficult to really maintain meaningful connections.
Look for examples of connections in pop-culture today.

Those kids so did not expect to be connected. But, they were.

Gadget: Email
I do realize email isn't a gadget, but it is most certainly my favorite technological advance in terms of communication.

I am so not connected to pop culture, can't help but think that the cell phone is the greatest connectiveness gadget around. How would we know where our kids are, what we need to buy at the grocery store on the way home, and how our friends far and wide are doing...without the cell phone. We can even send photos that are up to the minute..

ugh. i was so gung ho about all of this last week. this week - got busy - big life changing events at work... good and not so good... and then the words connections comes up. this is a big downer for me right now and i've tried to respond several times to these questions. and my not quite an ulcer begins to flare up. maybe when the sugar rush dies down - i can muster up some answers. still loving your challenges and checking in daily. xoxoxo

movie: how to make an american quilt...i love love love that movie (so much better than the book)
book: hmmmm...i'm going to be nerdy, and choose a world history textbook...you have to know the past to understand the present and appreciate/plan the future. things that happened in the 1800s are the reason why things are going the way they are today. yeah, i'm a history professor, but it's true
gadget: i'm going to say message boards...you can make friends with people in other countries and get very close to them and never ever meet them in your life. and you can be connected with people you will never meet over the same hobby. amazing

Gadget-Headphones-the only thing that definitely tells other that you don't want to be connected to them.
Book-The Stranger, talk about showing how quickly connections break down! Alternately, I would say Little Women. I must have read this book 200 times, I could have been the fifth sister.
Movie-Anything with Kevin Bacon in it. I love that game.
