routine

“Never again clutter your days or nights with so many menial and unimportant things that you have no time to accept a real challenge when it comes along. This applies to play as well as work. A day merely survived is no cause for celebration. You are not here to fritter away your precious hours when you have the ability to accomplish so much by making a slight change in your routine. No more busy work. No more hiding from success. Leave time, leave space, to grow. Now. Now! Not tomorrow!” ~Oq Mandino

I went searching for a quote about routine for today. Seems fitting for a Monday. My kids are still in school, and of course, I'm still in work. No matter that it's June...we're business as usual. My morning routine is consistent: wake at 6:00am, shower, make coffee, check emails & surf while Hope gets ready for school, nag her that she's going to miss the bus, wake Austin at 7:00am, get dressed, get my hair under control, check on Austin's progress, *maybe* eat breakfast, make sure he's on the bus at 8, then start my hour commute to work. On my commute, I say good morning to my husband (who goes to work at 1am), and mentally run through all the things that I know I need to accomplish for the day.

This entire routine has a bit of a frenetic feel to it...not much time & space to grow. I'll make the effort today. To carve out just a little bit of time & space. Tell me about your routine...do you leave room to grow??

I seem to go back and forth on this. Some weeks i LIVE and do what my heart desires. the problem? The next two weeks my routine is even worse to adapt/make up for the living!!!

I don't leave room for wiggle in my routine. In fact, I got in a huge screaming match with Brad this morning because he was all in my space while I was trying to get ready.

I hate to say it, but I think I'm getting more routine-oriented as I grow up.

I go back and forth, too. I either leave a lot of wiggle room to do what I want/have fun or I leave absolutely none. I wish I would be more gray and less black and white. Part of me really likes routine/traditions, but it's usually when routines are forced upon me (work, school) that I don't dig them too much.

I love this quote. I need to write this one down to remind me to take time to breathe.
My schedule starts at 5:15 am with getting up and getting my dd up for school...as she is leaving for the bus I am waking my boys. Then take them to school, go to work, usually run errands in between clients (I am a nursing assistant who goes to people's homes). The to pick the boys up from school, come home do dinner, dishes, laundry, homework, etc. I usually don't make it to bed until 11pm or so.

Routine...well about the only thing on a routine is work. I get up at 7 and out the door at 7:45 work till 2-3.
Then the rest of the day is consumed with where my heart takes me..I may plan to be home and then someone calls to invite us to do something short notice and we go.
We are very active/busy during the winter months with sports, work, etc. Summer is here and I hope it slows down a bit now so I can smell the roses a bit more KWIM, LOL!
Have a great week!

I linked to your blog off of Bab's Babble..and I just had to comment on your routine post...I just updated my blog today and it's about my routine! I agree, we need to make time to grow and change, but I'm such a creature of routine LOL!! I did have a bit of a change though and that is what I blogged about!
